Helping Children with Cerebral Palsy

Helping Children with Cerebral Palsy

It’s one thing to entirely fracture a limb, it is another to be born with it. Every hour a child is born with Cerebral Palsy disorder caused by a brain malfunction. These children struggle to live the ordinary life of a healthy being. Although there is no existing cure for this disability, physical changes can be done to better in the lives of these children.

What We Have Done

Jaffna Jaipur Centre for Disability Rehabilitation – JJCDR is a social welfare organization in Jaffna, Sri Lanka with a mission to reach out to people with limb-loss, physical disabilities and to empower them through a total rehabilitation program to restore their dignity, rights and recognitions. Peer 2 Peer foundation entered into a cooperative project with the JJCDR administrative board to fund building wheelchairs to the needy children and provide supplemental nutrition such as milk powder.

With support and funds raised from the Tamils of Northern California, P2P funded creating standing frames, specially designed wheelchairs, and supplementary nutrition to help children with Cerebral Palsy.

On July 18, 2018, Mr. Nico Mahinthan of Peer 2 Peer – Sri Lanka met with JJCDR administrators, children with Cerebral Palsy supported by JJCDR and their parents to hand over the specially designed wheel chairs and supplemental nutrition.
